When the gap between where you are and where you want to be is large, focus on the next step. One sentence in the book. One workout. One email. While the ultimate goal helps you navigate, focusing on it keeps you from achieving it.

I don't doubt it. Living spaces are generally designed around the able-bodied, and everyone who is that stops being that eventually. Things you could easily navigate at 30 or 50 are things that will get you at 75 and above. Quoting @ninjamonkky.bsky.social Apparently area rugs are also agents of the Grimm reaper, statistically dangerous over a certain age. Related

Creator of Claude Code at Anthropic.
Also today: Claude Docs, Claude Slides, and Claude Design are in every conversation. Ask Claude for a presentation and you get one you can open, edit, and export as PowerPoint or PDF. Same for a document or a design. There's no separate tool to navigate to. They're just in the chat. Quoting @claudeai You can also now make decks, docs, and designs in your conversation. Draft the one-pager in Claude Docs, turn it into a deck with Claude Slides, and mock up a matching visual in Claude Design, all from one place. Anthropic Related

In the near term (definitely not in the long term), more capable models should mean safer models (maybe paradoxically). Current models are unsafe not because they're too smart, but because they take goals too literally or take nonsensical shortcuts to achieve these goals, i.e. they're RL-fried. They lack common sense. They don't do the right thing in the face of ambiguity. Basically, they're not smart enough. They're at that dangerous level where they're smart enough to achieve goals but not smart enough to tell if they're pursuing the right goals or achieving them in a sensible way. More cap… Related

Both inside and outside of any organization, there are some people who will intentionally cause the organization harm. If these enemies are within your organization, you need to call them out to resolve this conflict through the organization's system for achieving such resolutions, because working with enemies within your "extended family" will undermine you and the "family." If the enemies are outside your organization and will use the information to harm you, of course don't share it. #principleoftheday Related

I've had to "unlock" my developer Apple ID once every 5 days on average for the past three months, and once per day for the past three days. Each time I do it, I have to perform a delicate dance to navigate what seems to be some kind of request throttling that gives me HTTP 503 responses during the unlock process, making it impossible to complete its several steps. Then my session times out and I have to start over. I've been trying to unlock my ID for about an hour so far this morning… Related

What is a korrent?
A korrent is a belief a person has stated in their own words: one
sentence stating the claim, backed by a quote and a source, kept at
korrents.com .
Under a name here, the quoted block is what they actually said.
The korrent beneath it is the claim those words support, in
korrents' wording — tap it to see the record, its source, and who
else holds it.
Nobody here wrote their own korrents. They are compiled from public
statements, and a person can change their mind, which is recorded too.

About the English under a post
Some people here publish in a language other than English. Where they
do, this site shows a machine translation beneath the post, in
this typeface — the site's own, not theirs.
The post itself is never changed, moved or hidden: what is set in the
serif above is exactly what the person published, and it is what to
quote them on. A translation can be wrong in ways that matter,
especially about tone.
Only the post's own words are translated. A quoted post, a linked
article and a belief on korrents.com
are left in their original language.
