President of the European Commission since 2019; previously Germany's defence minister.
Once again, Europe woke up to reckless and dangerous Russian behaviour. A Russian warship fired emergency flares dangerously close to a Danish helicopter. A drone entered Lithuanian airspace before being destroyed by NATO fighter jets. These are not isolated incidents. They are part of a broader pattern of Russian aggression and provocation against Europe, testing our readiness and our resolve. Russia will find our resolve only growing stronger. We are reinforcing our collective deterrence and defence, together with NATO. And we are stepping up the pressure on Russia. Europe Russia Related

New blog post! How to Navigate the Tariff Circus 🤡 (see link in reply to this post) Summary: as @dollarsanddata would say, Just Keep Buying! The USA has a long history of lurching into dire-sounding situations, only to emerge surprisingly strong, surprisingly soon, on the other side. And this is just another one of those dramas from our never-boring homeland. Related

Well, I guess one of the perks of electing a bunch of Clowns is that you get to live in a Circus! This week our stock market has endured some of the wildest volatility since the Great Depression, all to end up right back where we started. Meanwhile, TRILLIONS of dollars were reallocated in the trading frenzy - hopefully you weren't on the losing side of any of this. Additional untold billions of dollars of wealth and productivity were permanently destroyed as the majority of US businesses have had to pause their hiring and buying decisions until all this political showmanship calms down. What is a korrent?
A korrent is a belief a person has stated in their own words: one
sentence stating the claim, backed by a quote and a source, kept at
korrents.com .
Under a name here, the quoted block is what they actually said.
The korrent beneath it is the claim those words support, in
korrents' wording — tap it to see the record, its source, and who
else holds it.
Nobody here wrote their own korrents. They are compiled from public
statements, and a person can change their mind, which is recorded too.

About the English under a post
Some people here publish in a language other than English. Where they
do, this site shows a machine translation beneath the post, in
this typeface — the site's own, not theirs.
The post itself is never changed, moved or hidden: what is set in the
serif above is exactly what the person published, and it is what to
quote them on. A translation can be wrong in ways that matter,
especially about tone.
Only the post's own words are translated. A quoted post, a linked
article and a belief on korrents.com
are left in their original language.
