✨ Finally built a timeline for https://t.co/HGCLKS5BD6 now I always wanted to make my site a bit more social, because I had profiles and trip overlaps and you could kinda see where other people went, but not something like this So on this new page you can see people near you, where everyone's traveling too, etc. There's the [ For you ] tab and [ Following ], like on X. So you can see people you follow, or just everyone I hope I can improve it more so the site will result in more serendipitous connections, especially now that's it's free Also nice you can see where people will be in the future… Quoting @levelsio 🌎 https://t.co/1z6UN2d0nh globe is now ready for space travel too 😊 Related

For those of you that use Best-o-Masto on the web, I've given it a bit of a design refresh. It's a little bit more Tangerine, and yes, a bit more of a traditional social media view. I've also included popular links and users on the right, so you could maybe use it as a way to get a quick news update as well. Next up…you can currently boost/favorite posts in the feed, but I would like to add a way to quickly reply as well. Could be fun! bestomasto.com

In my recent ICM talk, I displayed a diagram of the life cycle of an individual problem, from an open problem all the way to a definitive solution, with a key point being that AI tools have been far more effective at accelerating some portions of this cycle than others. A point which I made verbally in the talk, but not in the image, was that the definitive solutions to problems also formed the base for subsequent progress in the field, both by suggesting new key problems to work on, and to supply new techniques to tackle these problems. I therefore enclose a further evolution of the diagram… Related

Understanding code we didn’t write ourselves is one of the hardest parts of software engineering. If we approach agentic coding the way we tackle manual coding, we’ll turn ourselves into legacy code maintainers. That’s unlikely to speed up anything. Related

you want to get to a point where you know, your your machine, your org is self-sufficient enough that you know, you just need to occasionally tap the blimp, make sure that things are working. You can course correct if it's not, but that frees you up to then focus on the next important sets of problems that the org needs to, you know, tackle heads on.

I'm traveling the world for a bit, starting with China but then hopping around the globe, anywhere. Open to any adventure. No plans, only a backpack. Hoping to meet & get to know humans from all walks of life. The pic is from a long hike on the Great Wall. For me, as a fan of history, this was an epic experience. In China, first I'm visiting a few big cities & talking to engineers at the heart of China's AI revolution. After that, if feeling crazy enough, I'm hitchhiking (first time) across rural China for a few weeks. Hitchhiking because I think it's the best way to meet rural folks who I wo… China Related

What is a korrent?
A korrent is a belief a person has stated in their own words: one
sentence stating the claim, backed by a quote and a source, kept at
korrents.com .
Under a name here, the quoted block is what they actually said.
The korrent beneath it is the claim those words support, in
korrents' wording — tap it to see the record, its source, and who
else holds it.
Nobody here wrote their own korrents. They are compiled from public
statements, and a person can change their mind, which is recorded too.

About the English under a post
Some people here publish in a language other than English. Where they
do, this site shows a machine translation beneath the post, in
this typeface — the site's own, not theirs.
The post itself is never changed, moved or hidden: what is set in the
serif above is exactly what the person published, and it is what to
quote them on. A translation can be wrong in ways that matter,
especially about tone.
Only the post's own words are translated. A quoted post, a linked
article and a belief on korrents.com
are left in their original language.
