Machine-learning researcher on open language models; writes the Interconnects newsletter and the RLHF Book, after leading post-training at Ai2.
Was spending too much time reading Tweets, so set out to write down why one resignation turned the embers of AI fear into a wildfire -- and importantly square which claims I think are valid or hyperbole in the resulting discourse. interconnects.ai

AUTODESIGNING PPTX: While trying to understand the new @github HydraFusion Project https://t.co/B03qBEWQQK I made my seventh attempt at a bespoke, and on-brand, PPTX deck tool for my brother @mariorod1 to cook with as a custom GitHub Copilot Canvas. It's getting an awfully lot easier to work within Swiss typographic grids in "creative" ways that make the literal roll of the dice satisfyingly fast without making so many LLM calls. Next, I'm looking forward to adding all the interesting GEPA and GRPO stuff that will enable compounding learning capabilities. —JM --- Cozy AI Recipe: - I pointed G… youtu.be

Swedish designer and programmer. Designed early Spotify, worked at Facebook and Figma, and created the Inter typeface.
Inter is having impact beyond my wildest dreams. When I started working on Inter ten years ago, I didn’t even expect it to survive the prototyping stage. Now it’s used by governments (including Switzerland, which is ironic in a way) and non-profit organizations around the world, bringing good typography to the people. It warms my heart to see so many young designers being able to express themselves in “Swiss style” without the need to break any laws. When I was a kid and an aspiring graphic designer, I could barely afford food and definitely did not have the money to buy font licenses. I wish… Quoting @SaberNaeemi Inter font is so popular these days on @googlefonts. Designed by @rsms, did you know at the beginning it was launched under the name "Interface" before being renamed to "Inter UI" and eventually shortened to just "Inter"? Related

Network School is not shutting down; that’s fake news. We received two notices. The first tells us to change the text of a sign. The second says that our coworking site, which was created by joining two adjacent units, evidently has a valid license on the left hand side but not the right hand side. We have a remedial period for both issues, and will remediate them shortly. But our members are otherwise unaffected. Related

Tibo’s points may be valid, but they are not reasons to never sell. If you know what you’re signing up for, pocketing $8M is worth some sacrifice. His post actually points to better advice, which is: don’t agree to aggressive performance milestones. Quoting @tibo_maker if you're selling your startup - don't I sold my startups for $8m & I'll never sell again quick context: I sold Tweet Hunter and Taplio for $8m in 2024. $2m upfront, the rest as an earnout based on performance - on paper, a dream exit in reality, 3 things broke me first, I gave up my baby. the prod… Related

I think longevity and aging kind of occupy this weird realm where because they're not like explicitly diseases in a way that's fully socially recognized yet they're not seen as valid to work on but like that's not really for I think technical reasons on some level it's more for like classification reasons

Their words
If a Chinese spacecraft can dock with a friendly satellite to refuel, repair, or transport it, the same robotic arm can also disable a US satellite’s solar panels and antennas. Alternatively, China can use these spacecraft to tow satellites into locations where they can, at best, only sub-optimally perform intended duties such as early warning, surveillance, or geolocation.

What is a korrent?
A korrent is a belief a person has stated in their own words: one
sentence stating the claim, backed by a quote and a source, kept at
korrents.com .
Under a name here, the quoted block is what they actually said.
The korrent beneath it is the claim those words support, in
korrents' wording — tap it to see the record, its source, and who
else holds it.
Nobody here wrote their own korrents. They are compiled from public
statements, and a person can change their mind, which is recorded too.

About the English under a post
Some people here publish in a language other than English. Where they
do, this site shows a machine translation beneath the post, in
this typeface — the site's own, not theirs.
The post itself is never changed, moved or hidden: what is set in the
serif above is exactly what the person published, and it is what to
quote them on. A translation can be wrong in ways that matter,
especially about tone.
Only the post's own words are translated. A quoted post, a linked
article and a belief on korrents.com
are left in their original language.
