Man. What a week! Started on a high on the weekend with doing good progress on a secret project and on Monday at work as well. Tuesday, still good progress but also had a quick shocker as a friend didn't answer their phone for 3 hours and we thought something happened to them. And today started with getting the notice that a friend from the local gym died after their cancer returned. 😭 And the whole world politics definitely starts to pull me down more and more. Can't wait for Saturday!

A Monday morning question for you: Timing influences communication. Talk about potential mistakes before they happen and people start looking for ways to prevent them. Talk about actual mistakes after they happen and people start looking for reasons to defend their actions. What do we need to be talking about now, so we can learn the lessons before we need them? I did another podcast with @tobi. We ended up kinda just geeking out on AI for hours. The members' cut is out: https://t.co/iMzgh5t4aW ... I am worried this episode might be a little too nerdy for everyone, but the feedback from early listeners seems to be: 'This is the best podcast of the year; I need to listen more than once; and I am so far behind on AI.' The public release is Tuesday, and it's a little less in the weeds, but if you want the nerd edition, get the members' cut. Related

Today, we remember. We remember that 25 years ago, the world stood still. We remember the 3,000 people who left home that morning and never returned. Where the Twin Towers once stood, two columns of light now rise into the New York sky. They remind us that light triumphs even on the darkest of days. I said I’d do politics differently. So these are the facts: The UK has seen the lowest number of summer small boat arrivals since 2020. We’ve returned more than 80,000 people with no right to be here – and annual returns are at their highest level since 2016. There are half the number of asylum seekers in hotels than there were last year. And today, we go further by bringing the total number of deployed French officers tackling small boat crossings to nearly 1,050. But I know that we can’t be complacent on this. Smuggling gangs are constantly adapting their tactics, and we need to respond qui… Related

A Monday morning question for you: I'm not usually awake from 5am to 6am, but when I am I tend to enjoy it. Start the day slow. Watch the sunrise. Get a few things done before everyone else wakes up. Meanwhile, I am often awake from 10pm to 11pm and I find that I tend to use it poorly. Passively watching TV or scrolling on a screen. Late-night snacking. Generally focusing on things that are fairly unimportant. Trading the last hour of the night for the first hour in the morning would be a pretty high-value trade for me. Which hours of your day tend to return the most value and which ones tend… Related

What is a korrent?
A korrent is a belief a person has stated in their own words: one
sentence stating the claim, backed by a quote and a source, kept at
korrents.com .
Under a name here, the quoted block is what they actually said.
The korrent beneath it is the claim those words support, in
korrents' wording — tap it to see the record, its source, and who
else holds it.
Nobody here wrote their own korrents. They are compiled from public
statements, and a person can change their mind, which is recorded too.

About the English under a post
Some people here publish in a language other than English. Where they
do, this site shows a machine translation beneath the post, in
this typeface — the site's own, not theirs.
The post itself is never changed, moved or hidden: what is set in the
serif above is exactly what the person published, and it is what to
quote them on. A translation can be wrong in ways that matter,
especially about tone.
Only the post's own words are translated. A quoted post, a linked
article and a belief on korrents.com
are left in their original language.
