Today in "iPhone apps are already iPad apps", here's Quick Reads for iOS running on iOS 27 as the screen gets wider with zero code changes so far. I really think this will be Apple's differentiator in folding phones. I'm kind of shocked how many Android apps simply don't take any advantage of a larger screen, while I think a lot of iPhone apps will do this automatically. If your app runs on the iPhone and iPad, it very likely may just work on day one without the dev needing to do anything.

uh the we found that that leads to improvement and we saw in the shirt folding example we saw like a quantitative bump from using that sort of imagination compared to not using it. At the same time I think that the model actually performed surprisingly well without that as well.

I mean I think like if you look at uh my colleagues work on say alpha fold that was a very specific model for uh protein folding and it was highly successful um and was able to really handle that domain quite well so that all of a sudden you now have this amazing tool and model that can give you answers to questions about proteins and their structure um really effectively um but it's not a general model it's a very specific one and there are other I domains where that kind of approach can work really well. Uh maybe in material science or chip design or things like that that uh will enable you to leverage the capabilities of a very accurate but but niche model uh to do things that are hard today.

I still believe quality is a huge differentiator. It's not just something you can decide to do. I think it needs to show up every single aspect of your company from like you have to do things that are irrational. I think that's kind of what quality comes from. like you do a bunch of things and like 50% of those things you you didn't have to do and I think very few people are willing to operate that way.
