CEO of Vercel; creator of Next.js and Socket.IO. Writes at rauchg.com.
It's likely that more software will be produced next year than in all of the history of computing. It took Vercel 10 years to get to 1 billion deployments, but then we added another 1.4 billion in the last 10 months alone. Some of this will be tiny, personal and even disposable software. An HTML file with some javascript ("artifacts"), a report, a pricing calculator, a slide deck, all the way to sophisticated apps, agents and platforms. Deployment speed is one of our obsessions. We've brought down the time to deploy, upload, assign a domain and globally propagate an artifact to 1 second. This… Quoting @vercel_dev You and your coding agent can now use the CLI to deploy static artifacts in less than one second. ▲ ~/ vercel deploy ./my-static-site --prod JavaScript Related

Creator of Claude Code at Anthropic.
Also today: Claude Docs, Claude Slides, and Claude Design are in every conversation. Ask Claude for a presentation and you get one you can open, edit, and export as PowerPoint or PDF. Same for a document or a design. There's no separate tool to navigate to. They're just in the chat. Quoting @claudeai You can also now make decks, docs, and designs in your conversation. Draft the one-pager in Claude Docs, turn it into a deck with Claude Slides, and mock up a matching visual in Claude Design, all from one place. Anthropic Related

The marketing speak may be the same, but you get the sense that Ternus knows these products backwards and forwards – he simply must given his previous role literally helping to engineer them. Somehow, that knowledge translates into the presentation. spyglass.org

Put an AV test at the start of your slides For years, I've had a test-card at the start of my slides. Before I start my talk, I can immediately see if the aspect ratio is wrong, colours are off, or any other visual issues with the presentation. A few years ago I…

the number of people who present incredibly well, and then you give them a prompt and some data and ask them to come back with a PRD on something, and then we make them verbally defend it, how quickly the thinking decays from folks who are good at the theater, but not the specifics, uh is kind of really telling, I think.

And what I learned from the puppet days, every presentation is an interview. I don't think a lot of people think about it that way cuz people are looking at you on stage and they get to see what you're about.

This is what it means to read a short story collection from an absolute master at the absolute peak of his powers. He can slide you frictionlessly between Icelandic troll tragedies to lethal drone-leopard romantic agonies to battles of the gods and the cigar box that has the universe inside of it. All with the lyricism of Bradbury, the madcap wit of Sturgeon, the unrelenting weirdness of Dick, the heart of Tiptree and the precision of Chiang.

If you want to exchange or deliver information to a group of people, one of the worst ways to do it is with a live verbal presentation. If your goal is actually to deliver that scientific paper or that insight, then you should either write a book or write a memo and say, here, in an asynchronous way, this is what we know. If you're going to show up live, in person, in real time, synchronized, you are performing. And the goal is to not deliver the information, but to deliver emotion.

What is a korrent?
A korrent is a belief a person has stated in their own words: one
sentence stating the claim, backed by a quote and a source, kept at
korrents.com .
Under a name here, the quoted block is what they actually said.
The korrent beneath it is the claim those words support, in
korrents' wording — tap it to see the record, its source, and who
else holds it.
Nobody here wrote their own korrents. They are compiled from public
statements, and a person can change their mind, which is recorded too.

About the English under a post
Some people here publish in a language other than English. Where they
do, this site shows a machine translation beneath the post, in
this typeface — the site's own, not theirs.
The post itself is never changed, moved or hidden: what is set in the
serif above is exactly what the person published, and it is what to
quote them on. A translation can be wrong in ways that matter,
especially about tone.
Only the post's own words are translated. A quoted post, a linked
article and a belief on korrents.com
are left in their original language.
