Growth tactic #13: "🎈Go anti-professional: One of the most viral LinkedIn posts of all time came from a manager who swapped her corporate headshot for a casual, no-makeup photo. Pick a norm of your own and break it in public. You might talk about how much roles actually pay or admit that a big launch didn’t actually meet internal expectations. People are tired of perfectly curated, glossy exteriors of the professional world, so a bit of human messiness will stand out." More here: lennysnewsletter.com

the most important skill is to be able to teach yourself something complicated from a youtube video. The other day, I met some parents, and they were super concerned about their 16-year-old daughter. The parents both went to very fancy colleges, and their daughter was not on the track to go to a very fancy college. They were lamenting that and were concerned about that. Then I happened to meet their daughter, and two things I noticed right away: (1) the daughter was a wonderful person, and she just seemed like a genuinely nice and caring young lady. Today, we're putting the cowboys out of business. Most builders in this country are decent people who take pride in their work and charge a fair price for it. But the small number who don’t follow the same pattern: take a big deposit, do half a job, then disappear with your hard-earned money. That's got to change. So we're backing a new system that gives you the option to have your money held safely and released bit by bit as the work is completed. Do the work, get paid. It's as simple as that. And we'll help our good builders stand out from the cowboys too. Tradespeople who meet our new set… Related

in case you’re not living in the tech bubble, as a general rule i’ve been surprised by how infrequently top tier folks actually meet/know each other. as an outsider i might have assumed that everyone is in secret illuminati group chats. those exist, but are very much short lived exceptions rather than the rule. what you see of the major headlines is pretty much what they also see. i guess one way to interpret this is also simply that most effort is still on doing the work rather than working the narrative or the gossip. and that, to me at least, is genuinely quite reassuring, this far in to m… Quoting @TechEmails Anthropic cofounder emails Noam Shazeer November 21, 2021 Related

I still meet people convinced that AI coding tools will soon reach a point where code quality, design, and even architecture are "solved". So I ran a small ad-hoc experiment. I’ve been working on a CLI tool and let agents plan and implement a first functionally correct version. I provided strict instructions around testing strategy, workflows, and implementation constraints. But I deliberately removed the @codescene MCP and the safeguards I normally rely on. Unsurprisingly, the resulting code suffered from a ton of problems. It would have been a shaky foundation to continue building on. How s… MCP Related

What is a korrent?
A korrent is a belief a person has stated in their own words: one
sentence stating the claim, backed by a quote and a source, kept at
korrents.com .
Under a name here, the quoted block is what they actually said.
The korrent beneath it is the claim those words support, in
korrents' wording — tap it to see the record, its source, and who
else holds it.
Nobody here wrote their own korrents. They are compiled from public
statements, and a person can change their mind, which is recorded too.

About the English under a post
Some people here publish in a language other than English. Where they
do, this site shows a machine translation beneath the post, in
this typeface — the site's own, not theirs.
The post itself is never changed, moved or hidden: what is set in the
serif above is exactly what the person published, and it is what to
quote them on. A translation can be wrong in ways that matter,
especially about tone.
Only the post's own words are translated. A quoted post, a linked
article and a belief on korrents.com
are left in their original language.
