If it's a signed first edition it's not entirely out of line, but otherwise you can just come to one of my signing events and I'll sign your copy for free, or for the holiday season call my local bookstore and order a copy there and I'll sign/personalize it and then they'll ship it off. Quoting @msudogsrule.bsky.social Hey @scalzi.com … seems a bit steep? Related

Another week at @oxide.computer has given us (yet) another example of the kinds of problems that very much require human engineering. Today, the team joins @ahl.bsky.social and me to regale us with the wild tale. Join us live, 5p Pacific, tonight! discord.gg
Quoting @bcantrill.bsky.social I am surely not alone in having family over the weekend hitting me up asking "should I be worried about extinction?" As a response, I have found that my anti-Doomer talk from @monktoberfest.com 2023 (three very long years ago!) remains current and accessible: www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQfJ... Related

I told my wife I have to keep adding oil to our truck on this road trip so she asked how much I’ve added and I said I don’t know, it’s a quart low every time I check so she said it sounds like we’re just feeding oil to the trans-Canada highway and then my mechanic started crying Related

@SouthwestAir Your points transfer process is ridiculous. I transferred points from my credit card and rather than send them correctly to my wife's Southwest account we linked, you created a new account in my name to send the points to, and now I can't access them because I never made such an account, so it has no password nor email set for it. Setting up Grok @Bot for my wife. First thing she did was set up our calendar. She also connected her Gmail. I asked her to just ask it something. She opened voice mode and said, “Can you send an email to remind Fatih to mow the lawn?” Little did I know I was digging my own grave. Related

Heartbroken to hear my friend Sir Billy Boston has died. Billy was one of the greatest Rugby League players of all time but also one of the kindest and most down-to-earth people you could ever wish to meet. This is a new paradigm for interacting with Claude that is significantly more "inline" with all the other human activity org-wide. Once you do all of the under the hood engineering work to make this "just work" (e.g. across tools, integrations, compute environments, memory, security, etc.), Claude basically joins the team in a seamless way - you can talk to it as you would talk to a person and it can help with a very large variety of workloads. One thing that I notice that my wife does and that works well when teaching our 8-yr-old certain things, is that she’ll talk to me when we’re all in the same room, and then she’ll say, “One thing I didn’t really understand when I was young…” and you can just feel the 8-year-old turning her entire being toward us, to try to figure out what secret knowledge we adults are trading in. What is a korrent?
A korrent is a belief a person has stated in their own words: one
sentence stating the claim, backed by a quote and a source, kept at
korrents.com .
Under a name here, the quoted block is what they actually said.
The korrent beneath it is the claim those words support, in
korrents' wording — tap it to see the record, its source, and who
else holds it.
Nobody here wrote their own korrents. They are compiled from public
statements, and a person can change their mind, which is recorded too.

About the English under a post
Some people here publish in a language other than English. Where they
do, this site shows a machine translation beneath the post, in
this typeface — the site's own, not theirs.
The post itself is never changed, moved or hidden: what is set in the
serif above is exactly what the person published, and it is what to
quote them on. A translation can be wrong in ways that matter,
especially about tone.
Only the post's own words are translated. A quoted post, a linked
article and a belief on korrents.com
are left in their original language.
