I, for one, am excited about China's progress and aspirations in designing new medicines. Pharma innovation is positive sum, and the benefits go overwhelmingly to patients and society, globally. Only a small fraction of the value is captured by producers or by the nation they hail from. A drug invented in China will cure me or someone I love just as well as one invented in the US or Europe. I do understand the fear in the US industry. And I hope that motivates us to accelerate the pace in the US, and pass some of regulatory reforms that @RuxandraTeslo and others have eloquently made the case… Quoting @fjeg1987 China wants its drugmakers to have originated 25% of first-in-class drugs and $522B in sales by 2030. This is compared to the total market of $800B today. I'm simultaneously in awe of the ambition and paranoid about the US ability to compete. I had a dinner with pharma leaders who remain delighted… Europe China Related

It's likely that more software will be produced next year than in all of the history of computing. It took Vercel 10 years to get to 1 billion deployments, but then we added another 1.4 billion in the last 10 months alone. Some of this will be tiny, personal and even disposable software. An HTML file with some javascript ("artifacts"), a report, a pricing calculator, a slide deck, all the way to sophisticated apps, agents and platforms. Deployment speed is one of our obsessions. We've brought down the time to deploy, upload, assign a domain and globally propagate an artifact to 1 second. This… Quoting @vercel_dev You and your coding agent can now use the CLI to deploy static artifacts in less than one second. ▲ ~/ vercel deploy ./my-static-site --prod JavaScript Related

It's absolutely wild how many times Volvo has managed to refresh this platform. They are basically the same cars as in 2015/2017 but now they have 150km range plus electric and they still look amazing.

someone asked me yesterday: who is the one figure that would be able to start an AI eval organization and be globally seen as neutral and trusted both technically and ideologically and financially. the only name that popped into my head was @ID_AA_Carmack (not that he has any interest in doing so!). For those of you that use Best-o-Masto on the web, I've given it a bit of a design refresh. It's a little bit more Tangerine, and yes, a bit more of a traditional social media view. I've also included popular links and users on the right, so you could maybe use it as a way to get a quick news update as well. Next up…you can currently boost/favorite posts in the feed, but I would like to add a way to quickly reply as well. Could be fun! bestomasto.com

Their words
Like, if you think more globally, we are, we copied Google for agents. You have, like, a prompt, and, and then you have a chat interface. That, to me, very much feels like when we first created television and then people recorded radio shows on television and you saw that on TV.

What is a korrent?
A korrent is a belief a person has stated in their own words: one
sentence stating the claim, backed by a quote and a source, kept at
korrents.com .
Under a name here, the quoted block is what they actually said.
The korrent beneath it is the claim those words support, in
korrents' wording — tap it to see the record, its source, and who
else holds it.
Nobody here wrote their own korrents. They are compiled from public
statements, and a person can change their mind, which is recorded too.

About the English under a post
Some people here publish in a language other than English. Where they
do, this site shows a machine translation beneath the post, in
this typeface — the site's own, not theirs.
The post itself is never changed, moved or hidden: what is set in the
serif above is exactly what the person published, and it is what to
quote them on. A translation can be wrong in ways that matter,
especially about tone.
Only the post's own words are translated. A quoted post, a linked
article and a belief on korrents.com
are left in their original language.
