7 Quotes on Writing I hope you enjoy the following gems as much as I have… “Write to please just one person. If you open a window and make love to the world, so to speak, your story will get pneumonia.” — Kurt Vonnegut “You must stay drunk on writing so reality cannot destroy you.” — Ray Bradbury “Be regular and orderly in your life like a bourgeois, so that you may be violent and original in your work.” — Gustave Flaubert “The writer should never be ashamed of staring. There is nothing that does not require his attention.” — Flannery O’Connor “A writer is unfair to himself when he is unable… Related

Honored to have the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, help us open Replit’s first international office in London! I’ve really appreciated the Mayor’s approach to AI, it feels very similar to ours. He calls himself an AI realist: clear-eyed about the disruption AI will create, but optimistic about the impact if we give people the tools and skills to participate in the coming revolution. That’s exactly how we think about it at Replit. AI is going to transform work, so we have to make sure far more people can use it to create, build businesses, and access new opportunities. It’s also why, as we estab… Quoting @MayorofLondon London shares Replit’s vision of a world where everyone can benefit from the opportunities of the AI age. I’m trying to reattach interior pieces of a decades-old violin case. The pieces were originally affixed by staples that have a 4.5mm crown, 10mm leg length, and are made from wire that’s 0.75mm thick. I have searched a bunch permutations of those dimensions (metric and imperial-converted) with various terms (“narrow crown”, “upholstery”, “trim”, etc.) and am still coming up empty for what these staples are and where I could get new ones, and what kind of device I would need. Anyone here know? Related

What is wrong with @instagram! Someone has created a fake profile of a friend, registering the exact same username as his, with an added underscore at the end. So username is main account, username_ is the fake one. The fake profile's photo is copied from main, even original photos of friend himself have been lifted and posted as their own. I've never seen a more blatant impersonation. And they're reaching out to his friends asking for money. A bunch of us reported the fake profile for impersonation, and Instagram refused to take any action. Related

What is a korrent?
A korrent is a belief a person has stated in their own words: one
sentence stating the claim, backed by a quote and a source, kept at
korrents.com .
Under a name here, the quoted block is what they actually said.
The korrent beneath it is the claim those words support, in
korrents' wording — tap it to see the record, its source, and who
else holds it.
Nobody here wrote their own korrents. They are compiled from public
statements, and a person can change their mind, which is recorded too.

About the English under a post
Some people here publish in a language other than English. Where they
do, this site shows a machine translation beneath the post, in
this typeface — the site's own, not theirs.
The post itself is never changed, moved or hidden: what is set in the
serif above is exactly what the person published, and it is what to
quote them on. A translation can be wrong in ways that matter,
especially about tone.
Only the post's own words are translated. A quoted post, a linked
article and a belief on korrents.com
are left in their original language.
