Yo @flighty please lemme make flights hidden from friends. My sister now knows we're taking the kids to Lapland in a year's time... 🤐 🎅

Visited a library today which was named after a rich guy from Harvard (class of 1834). Discovered, through very minor research, that the money given to the library (claimed to have been left in his will) was, in fact, given by his sister, the sole beneficiary of his $$ after he left no will at all. After correcting the Wikipedia record on this point, I have now gotten lost reading about The Harvard College Rebellion of 1834 which is about as ridiculous as it sounds. scholarship.law.wm.edu

Friday afternoon reminder to not empty your inbox at the expense of someone else's. I'm out of town helping my sister after she recovers from a medical procedure (she's doing well!). I'm out of my routine and pretty well out of my inbox and DEFINITELY out of it after 5 pm. Be mindful about what you ask for from other people, but just do your best. Have a restful weekend. Also a big fan of Flighty, but feels like a perfect example why data ownership and local-first are important to me. He just wanted to correlate his personal flights with his health data and publish the results! Quoting @martinamps sad times, i’m a huge @Flighty fan and have been a paying customer for years.. would be great if they could ship an API ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Related

Friday afternoon reminder to not empty your inbox at the expense of someone else's. I'll be headed down to Massachusetts to spend some time with my sister next week and I've already got my clipboard out and am making lists. Maybe I'll catch Super Troopers 3 at the local movie house. Either way, my mind is nowhere near my email. Fortunately it does not have to be. Image credit: Randolph Historical Society, on Flickr Commons flickr.com

I’ve been a big fan of what @united is doing in general, but from what I’ve heard (via other passengers and flight attendants), it seems they didn’t renew their Panasonic contract for widebodies while Starlink is rolled out. I’m pumped about Starlink and will seek out United once I know it’s available (had it this week and it was awesome). Until then, however, no Internet, particular on transoceanic flights, is unacceptable and a very poor choice by United’s management. I’ll be flying someone else for those for now. Quoting @sliccardo I’ve just endured my third consecutive long-haul flight on @united with no WiFi. I’ve just decided to choose any other airline available, even if I have to connect to DC through New Zealand. Related

What is a korrent?
A korrent is a belief a person has stated in their own words: one
sentence stating the claim, backed by a quote and a source, kept at
korrents.com .
Under a name here, the quoted block is what they actually said.
The korrent beneath it is the claim those words support, in
korrents' wording — tap it to see the record, its source, and who
else holds it.
Nobody here wrote their own korrents. They are compiled from public
statements, and a person can change their mind, which is recorded too.

About the English under a post
Some people here publish in a language other than English. Where they
do, this site shows a machine translation beneath the post, in
this typeface — the site's own, not theirs.
The post itself is never changed, moved or hidden: what is set in the
serif above is exactly what the person published, and it is what to
quote them on. A translation can be wrong in ways that matter,
especially about tone.
Only the post's own words are translated. A quoted post, a linked
article and a belief on korrents.com
are left in their original language.
