Aligning with a party prevents you from ever having this (obviously correct) opinion. Trump's grifting (meme coin, selling early access to tweets, $5k bribes) is gross, unnecessary, and destroys confidence in markets and politicians. The Trump accounts are a fantastic achievement and could change millions upon millions of Americans' lives. Quoting @MebFaber The single worst trade I can think of: Sacrificing your mental independence and emotional health to align with a political party. Zero upside and massive downside. Try subbing out "ideas" for "party" in my favorite @AdamMGrant quote America Related

A pump-and-dump dressed up as a fake cabinet post?: Elon Musk’s DOGE took money Congress had lawfully appropriated to fight disease and grow the world economy, and simply nixed it. The crypto coin that Musk was then not so quietly promoting made a round-trip: the DogeCoin chart runs $0.09 to $0.40 and back to $0.09. But the 800,000 or so who would be alive today without DOGE’s illegal and unconstitutional chaos-monkey wrecking ball did not come back: **Elon Musk & His DOGE & DogeCoin... 1/ crypto Related

The macro data giveth and the macro data taketh. Productivity for Q1 revised down. Still a respectable pace over the last five quarters (2.1% annual rate--five quarters because shifting means Q1 & Q2 last year were two sides of the same coin). Related

My estimate is sort of 50% chance by in the next five years, so by 2030 let's say. So I think there's a good chance that that could happen.

Welp, somewhat embarrassingly, yesterday this account was briefly compromised and someone posing as me promoted a crypto project supposedly "tokenizing" manim. Thank you to those of you who quickly flagged it as spam and alerted me to the problem. For future reference, it's a safe bet that you'll never see me creating and promoting a meme coin. crypto Related

What is a korrent?
A korrent is a belief a person has stated in their own words: one
sentence stating the claim, backed by a quote and a source, kept at
korrents.com .
Under a name here, the quoted block is what they actually said.
The korrent beneath it is the claim those words support, in
korrents' wording — tap it to see the record, its source, and who
else holds it.
Nobody here wrote their own korrents. They are compiled from public
statements, and a person can change their mind, which is recorded too.

About the English under a post
Some people here publish in a language other than English. Where they
do, this site shows a machine translation beneath the post, in
this typeface — the site's own, not theirs.
The post itself is never changed, moved or hidden: what is set in the
serif above is exactly what the person published, and it is what to
quote them on. A translation can be wrong in ways that matter,
especially about tone.
Only the post's own words are translated. A quoted post, a linked
article and a belief on korrents.com
are left in their original language.
