Self-taught home cook and food writer who has run the Smitten Kitchen recipe site since 2006; author of four cookbooks.
This week's Smitten Kitchen Digest celebrates 20 years of SK with a love letter to the people (you, yes you!) who have made it possible and a list of what I consider the 20 most iconic site recipes to date. Tell me if there are any I missed. Cheers! Related

Sitting in bed in the middle of the night thinking about multisets, "I could clamp registers to a max value and crash, or I could use the largest int value as infinity.." It seems like being to have infinity in Rejoice would be a fun thing to move in and out of recipes. x^ω x and x^ω would be equal, it would be a saturating register value in Rejoice. I'm not exactly sure what the ramifications of this are yet, that might be a stupid idea. wiki.xxiivv.com

cucumber salad with sesame and rice vinegar It is an error that needs correcting that in the near-20 years of plugging recipes into this url, only a few truly star cucumbers — and highly unrepresentative too, given that we are probably eating some format of cucum…

house lemonade I realize as far as recipes go, suggesting one needs one for lemonade is questionable. What’s next, a set of detailed instructions for salted water, simple syrup, or buttered noodles? (Whoops!) But it turns out I have o…

What is a korrent?
A korrent is a belief a person has stated in their own words: one
sentence stating the claim, backed by a quote and a source, kept at
korrents.com .
Under a name here, the quoted block is what they actually said.
The korrent beneath it is the claim those words support, in
korrents' wording — tap it to see the record, its source, and who
else holds it.
Nobody here wrote their own korrents. They are compiled from public
statements, and a person can change their mind, which is recorded too.

About the English under a post
Some people here publish in a language other than English. Where they
do, this site shows a machine translation beneath the post, in
this typeface — the site's own, not theirs.
The post itself is never changed, moved or hidden: what is set in the
serif above is exactly what the person published, and it is what to
quote them on. A translation can be wrong in ways that matter,
especially about tone.
Only the post's own words are translated. A quoted post, a linked
article and a belief on korrents.com
are left in their original language.
