In a world obsessed with status and optimization, people matter most and make life worthwhile.
In a world that's increasingly obsessed with status, achievement, optimization, and all kinds of other meaningless bullshit, don't forget that it's the people that matter most and make life worthwhile.

American marathoners are more competitive in championship-style races than in pure speed races.
it will never not be wild to me how much more competitive American marathoners are in races that are more championship-style (i.e. no pacers) like Boston, New York, the Olympics, and world championships than they are in the ones that are pure expressions of speed.

Confidence comes from evidence accumulated through doing a lot of work.
Regardless of who first said it, the message is the same: Confidence comes from evidence, and evidence is something you accumulate by doing a lot of work.

Vinny Mauri is a highly talented runner who will likely win races in the future.
Vinny Mauri is the real deal. In his first major, the 25-year-old finished tenth overall and third American in 2:06:45 after stopping to stretch multiple times. Yes, the massive surge he made from 20 to 25K came back to bite him in the ass, but that's just inexperience, and it's only a matter of time before a move like that sticks.

Clayton Young is a reliable marathoner due to his patience, savvy, and intelligence.
Clayton Young is like a safe stock that's worth holding on to for a long time because you know it will deliver more often than not, even when there's volatility in the market. I don't think he has the pure physical talent of some of the other American guys, but he's patient, savvy, and smart, which are all essential traits to have in the marathon.

Becoming too reliant on technology like GPS watches or heart-rate monitors can discourage thinking or feeling in critical situations.
becoming too reliant on a GPS watch or heart-rate monitor or power meter discourages you from thinking or feeling in critical situations and that can be problematic.

The vast majority of data tracked by modern running watches is useless for most people.
Modern running watches are impressive in the amount of data that they can purportedly track, but trust me when I tell you that 98% of it is useless for a majority of the population.

Bob Bowman's framework for success can be applied to running, work, or virtually any other part of life.
This framework can also be applied effectively to running, work, or virtually any other part of your life where you're trying to excel (or help others excel).

Coincidence and chance have less to do with good things happening to us than people might want to admit.
I don't think coincidence or chance has as much to do with good things happening to us as we might want to admit.

Treating others well often results in unexpected positive outcomes for people.
it never ceases to amaze me how much tends to come back to people who treat others well with no expectation of anything in return.

What is a korrent?
A korrent is a belief a person has stated in their own words: one sentence stating the claim, backed by a quote and a source, kept at korrents.com.
Under a name here, the quoted block is what they actually said. The korrent beneath it is the claim those words support, in korrents' wording — tap it to see the record, its source, and who else holds it.
Nobody here wrote their own korrents. They are compiled from public statements, and a person can change their mind, which is recorded too.

About the English under a post
Some people here publish in a language other than English. Where they do, this site shows a machine translation beneath the post, in this typeface — the site's own, not theirs.
The post itself is never changed, moved or hidden: what is set in the serif above is exactly what the person published, and it is what to quote them on. A translation can be wrong in ways that matter, especially about tone.
Only the post's own words are translated. A quoted post, a linked article and a belief on korrents.com are left in their original language.
