A CEO grading themselves a failure for their mistakes does not help; every CEO makes thousands of mistakes

Their words

Everybody makes mistakes. Every CEO makes thousands of mistakes. Evaluating yourself and giving yourself an “F” doesn’t help.

The Struggle is where greatness comes from.

The struggle of running a company is not failure, but it causes failure, always if you are weak

The Struggle is not failure, but it causes failure. Especially if you are weak. Always if you are weak.

Every company eventually must fight for its life instead of running from the battle

Their words

There comes a time in every company’s life where it must fight for its life. If you find yourself running when you should be fighting, you need to ask yourself: “If our company isn’t good enough to win, then do we need to exist at all?”

Facing an existential threat may be the scariest thing in business, and many will do anything to avoid it

Their words

Management books tend to describe peacetime methods because consultants study companies in times of peace

Their words

Be aware that management books tend to be written by management consultants who study successful companies during their times of peace. As a result, the resulting books describe the methods of peacetime CEOs.

A CEO can master both peacetime and wartime leadership, but it is hard

Their words

I believe that the answer is yes, but it’s hard. Mastering both wartime and peacetime skill sets means understanding the many rules of management and knowing when to follow them and when to violate them.

Peacetime and wartime require radically different management styles

Their words

My greatest management discovery through that transition was that peacetime and wartime require radically different management styles.

What is a korrent?

A korrent is a belief a person has stated in their own words: one sentence stating the claim, backed by a quote and a source, kept at korrents.com.

Under a name here, the quoted block is what they actually said. The korrent beneath it is the claim those words support, in korrents' wording — tap it to see the record, its source, and who else holds it.

Nobody here wrote their own korrents. They are compiled from public statements, and a person can change their mind, which is recorded too.

About the English under a post

Some people here publish in a language other than English. Where they do, this site shows a machine translation beneath the post, in this typeface — the site's own, not theirs.

The post itself is never changed, moved or hidden: what is set in the serif above is exactly what the person published, and it is what to quote them on. A translation can be wrong in ways that matter, especially about tone.

Only the post's own words are translated. A quoted post, a linked article and a belief on korrents.com are left in their original language.
